~ The UK Rivers Guidebook and UK Sea Kayak Guidebook Websites, the home of UK paddling on the Net ~
Saturday, 25 February 2006. . . Right - Two contrasting trip reports - "Casí Una Vuelta a Menorca" by Phil Quill; and "Going with the Flow - Coll & Staffa" by Owen Merrick. Great pics and nice writing. And a Campfire Conversation with Justine Curgenven no less! From the Web - plastic pipe is versatile stuff! If you want to make your very own Poop Tube, UKSKGB brings you the link to help preserve the wild spaces - and should you need a Kayak Trolley, your local DIY or Plumbers Centre will supply most of the essentials! Thanks to Cailean MacLeod of Peakwave Coaching for pointing me to the Lendal site which (since I last looked) has had a makeover and some interesting new technical articles on paddle choice and construction, and a worrying note about a shortage of carbon fibre. (You need to click on the UK Flag once you get to the home page). Also worth viewing are some of the Downloads from the RNLI (Click the 'Movie Clips' link when you get there). More in the Almanac - Here's another Technical Article from Cailean, this one on "Understanding Wind" (.PDF) He's also kindly sent a set of Oban Tide Tables (.PDF) which Reeds have issued due some errors in the original set issued in this year's Nautical Almanacs! And, if you missed CCL's wonderful link to the German Coastguard, see her post on the Community Forum. A "must click"! It's now on UKSKGB for posterity. I've also revised the Site Search function - it seems to be working rather better these days as our Google ranking increases steadily.

Summer's coming! UKSKGB wants your Contributions - Pictures, stories, articles, ideas etc. are all most welcome. |
Wednesday, 1 February 2006. . . Right - A Trip Report with some really poor pictures of Loch Teacuis and a tale of dreadful weather to illustrate that Scotland isn't always warm and sunny like that Douglas Wilcox chappie keeps telling us. UKSKGB Merchandise! Preview of the prototypes! And two pics from a short day on the Clyde. Last but by no means least, full Info & Booking Form for the NSBSK Symposium now available here. (Word doc)
