Stornoway Coastguard

by A.C.Paddler - 2005

Oh Stornoway Coastguard, we're calling for you,

A group of sea-paddlers, out here on the blue,

We're seeking some guidance, a tale that is true,

Oh Stornoway Coastguard, we're calling for you.

Oh Stornoway Coastguard, please say it is true,

The long distance forecast, we're asking of you,

Will tell of fine weather, of skies that are blue,

Oh Stornoway Coastguard, that's what you can do.

Oh Stornoway Coastguard, please give us a clue,

Light winds and cool breezes, the miles to accrue.

Some waves to excite us, a tide race or two,

But nothing too scary, or we'll be calling on you!

Oh Stornoway Coastguard, please go seven-two,

That forecast you gave us, it wasn't quite true.

We're tired and we're hungry, we're cold and we're blue,

We're stuck on an island, and that's down to you.

Oh Stornoway Coastguard, please say it was true,

The long distance forecast, we're asking of you,

Did tell of fine weather, of skies that were blue,

But Stornoway Coastguard, now what can you do?

Please send us a chopper, a lifeboat or two,

To take us all homeward, at knots 32.

And when we are rescued, and safe, sound and true,

The folk that we praise most, will be certainly you.
